on buying domains and hosting services: there are countless ways to do it for free but some reasons to pay for it include locking out bettar names, the ability to sell the name more if it is a dot com than merely a subdomain, bettar search rank because smaller wavelength blogs get dismissed as dot info type stuff and not the heavy hitting programmer sites that litter the net, bettar features including higher quality search engine iding, the fact that if you are paying for it you will put more into it and create higher quality content instead of making a million sub domains that will decrease your yield because your presence on the web is not concentrated but rather dilute, when you own your site you are more protected by the government legally, and the list goes on. I would not recomment low bandwidth pay hosts because the whole point of paying is not for the domain but rather the bandwidth much like you buy your computers for the good programs and large memory...its the exact same thing.
once you get your dot com aka .com or .net or .org or whatever makeshure the html is well parsed that the text is on the small side on the lead page to allow for quicker uploading of the page and that everything gets its own sub domain so the first page isint just loaded and slow loading
secondly make shure that you get domains similar to yours...many plans allow for the purchasing of one domain you get an additional ten. instead of creating ten different sites make all ten similar domains and have them redirect to yout origional page to enhance your search level as well as protecting against domain theft
